A Curated Catalogue
Your work joins a selective collection of high-quality plays and musicals for young performers.
A Good Fit for Our Catalogue
Classical Children’s Plays is a curated collection, and we look for works that share our commitment to strong storytelling, literary richness, meaningful themes, and material that schools and families can approach with confidence.
At the heart of our work is a belief that theatre for young people can engage with enduring ideas of truth, goodness, and beauty while still leaving room for imagination, complexity, humour, adventure, and genuine dramatic conflict.
We welcome different voices, styles, and subject matter, but submissions should align with the broader spirit of our catalogue: theatre that takes young people seriously, offers them worthwhile stories to explore, and creates a rewarding experience for performers and audiences alike.
Before submitting, we encourage you to explore our existing productions and read Our Story and Our Philosophy to get a fuller sense of the work we hope to publish.

What We’re Looking For
We are interested in plays and musicals created for elementary, middle school, high school, and youth performers up to age 18. We welcome both original plays and musicals and literary adaptations, particularly works that are well suited to school and youth theatre while offering genuine literary and theatrical substance.
We value scripts that respect the intelligence of young performers, provide meaningful opportunities for ensemble participation, and can be staged successfully in educational settings without sacrificing depth, imagination, or artistic quality.
We especially value works that:
Lead toward truth and goodness without becoming moralistic. Like the best literature, we prefer stories that allow their meaning to emerge naturally through character, conflict, and consequence rather than through overt lessons.
Strive for beauty. This may be expressed through language, structure, music, imagery, humour, dramatic form, or other elements of the work.
Aim for artistic excellence. We look for thoughtful writing, believable characterization, clear motivation, compelling dramatic tension, and satisfying development and resolution.
Respect the intelligence of young performers and audiences. Scripts should be accessible and appropriate to the intended age group without oversimplifying character, language, ideas, or plot.
