Classical Children’s Plays and Musicals is a place where classically-minded theatre writers can share their works with the world. We focus on adaptations of classical literary works, but are also open to original works. Criteria for acceptance are as follows:

The script must be written for untrained young actors who are no older than 18.

The work must seek to lead both cast and audience toward truth and goodness. Following the example of great writers, we prefer scripts that do this subtly and avoid open moralizing.

The work must try to create beauty, including through its language, structure, music, and/or other ways.

Scripts should be accessible to children but avoid oversimplifying either characterizations or plot.

Once you submit the form we will review your information. If we feel that your work may be a good fit for our website we'll be in touch with you and will request the full play.
Once we receive a full play, at least three founding members must read and evaluate it before a decision can be made to include it on our website. No script will be included unless at least three founders agree.
